Our Work / Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation in Uganda.
Skills for a fresh start.
A difficult chapter should not define a whole life. Happy Care Foundation’s rehabilitation programme focuses on practical skills, learning and positive change for vulnerable people rebuilding their future.
Learn. Practise. Rebuild.
What a fresh start can involve
Everyday confidence
Life skills
Life skills training can help people strengthen communication, decision-making and the ability to manage everyday challenges. This is part of the rehabilitation unit’s constitutional mandate.
Practical opportunity
Vocational learning
The programme mandate includes vocational skills such as tailoring and carpentry. Current training opportunities depend on available instructors, partnerships and resources.
Foundations for learning
Literacy education
Literacy education is included to support people whose learning has been interrupted. Learning can improve confidence and participation in further training and everyday life.
Preparing to belong
Positive change and reintegration
Behaviour change and reintegration workshops connect personal development with returning to community life. The focus is dignity, accountability and opportunity.
A journey built around individual needs
No single route fits everyone
Children, young people and adults bring different experiences, abilities and ambitions. Rehabilitation should begin by understanding those circumstances.
HCF’s mission brings rehabilitation together with legal aid and mental health support. Where appropriate, that wider support can help a person engage with learning and prepare for reintegration.
1
Understand the starting point
Discuss needs, strengths and barriers to participation.
2
Identify a suitable opportunity
Consider learning and support options that are currently available.
3
Build skills and confidence
Connect practical learning with personal development.
4
Prepare for community life
Link progress with appropriate reintegration support.
What progress should mean
More confidence.
Useful skills.
A stronger foundation for tomorrow.
Rehabilitation aims to expand a person’s ability to participate in family, work and community life. Progress may include greater confidence, improved literacy, practical skills and readiness for reintegration.
Help turn learning into opportunity
Training partners
Vocational centres, educators and skilled practitioners can discuss appropriate learning opportunities with HCF.
Volunteer expertise
Volunteers can enquire about mentoring and skills support. Roles depend on programme needs and safeguarding requirements.
Programme funding
Donations can support HCF’s mission, including rehabilitation activities. Ask about current programme priorities and designated giving.
Questions about this programme
Is this a residential rehabilitation centre?
This page describes HCF’s rehabilitation programme mandate. It does not establish that HCF operates a residential centre. Contact the team to confirm delivery arrangements.
Are training places currently available?
Ask HCF about current activities, eligibility, location and capacity. The programme mandate does not guarantee a place on every course.
Does completing training guarantee a job?
No. Skills training can strengthen opportunities, but employment depends on individual circumstances and available opportunities.
